Chess is a game played all around the world and many children around the globe play and enjoy it. Although the club is primarily for fun, chess has been shown to promote key intellectual skills in children such as problem solving, logical thinking. pattern recognition and concentration. It also teaches them thinking ahead and foreseeing the consequences of their actions.

The club is open to any standard of player including complete beginners and is ran by Mr Swales who plays for Thornaby Chess Club in the Cleveland League. The club is free to join, but places are limited. If your child misses 3 weeks in a row, their place will be offered to someone else.
